Many maintenance tasks need to be completed on a regular basis, so it helps to make the list convenient. We have compiled a hydraulic system maintenance checklist to ensure that your system remains clean and healthy. Before you start using this list, you may want to take the system information with you to check the manufacturer's specification sheet, such as filter schedule, oil specifications, and average temperature. This is our collection of maintenance tips for hydraulic systems:

1) Oil maintenance:

Maintain a consistent schedule to check the condition of the hydraulic oil. It needs to be kept clean and free of any contaminants. By keeping the area around the entry points (e. g. dipstick and fuel plug) free of dust and debris, you can help reduce the risk of contamination to a lesser extent. Maintaining the liquid level and checking the filter is also important here.

Read the manufacturer's specifications to find out how often hydraulic oil should be replaced and other hydraulic oil maintenance factors.

2) Replace the filter regularly:

Visual inspection of the hydraulic oil cannot remind you of all contaminants, and the filter will not always display them. The filter has the task of removing these particles, so it needs to be replaced according to the plan. If applicable, make sure that the filter bowl is also cleaned.

   3) Ruler conditions:

Visually inspect the rod for wear, such as corrosion and pitting. These problems can cause moisture in the fluid, which can compound and can cause many problems to your hydraulic system, such as increased wear and insufficient lubrication.

4) Replace the seal:

If rod corrosion occurs, the seal may be damaged due to excessive friction. Other hazards of the seal include excessive pressure and fluid contamination. A leak may indicate a worn seal. If there are signs that the seal is damaged, please contact the equipment manufacturer for the correct replacement.

5) Regularly check the hydraulic pipeline:

Fluctuations in pressure or line thickness can cause problems. The expanded line is the result of excessive pressure from the cylinder, which may cause high-pressure fluid to pass and wear the seals. Regularly check the condition of the pipelines and make sure that they are not expanding.

6) Check the liquid level:

In order to get the best function, you must pay attention to your liquid level and add it as needed. Too little oil can damage the pump. Be careful not to mix the oil and meet the specifications given by the manufacturer.

7) Inspect the breathing cap, fill screen and breathing filter:

Breathing apparatus must be kept clean, otherwise there is a risk of contamination of the hydraulic system. Clean the vent regularly and make sure it is free of any holes or tears. Different types of respirators may have additional requirements. For example, it may be necessary to change the spring type every year to avoid the risk of contaminants entering due to a drop in tension. Other types of indicators may tell you when to replace the filter or cap. Please note any other steps such as this.

8) Check the filter indicator:

Most filters have eject buttons that trigger when they are clogged. Check for any of these signs and replace the filter as needed.

9) Visually inspect all piping, pipe connections and system hoses:

Check hydraulic hoses for all pipe connections

If the hose is squeezed, kinked, frayed, blistered, elongated or otherwise damaged, they can restrict the flow of fluid or cause pressure leaks. Most of these problems can be seen from the outside, but you must also pay attention to problems that may indicate internal wear, which may block the hose.

Also check pipes, fittings and joints. Look for dents or corrosion on the pipe. The joints should be tight, but not too tight, and the joints should be kept clean to prevent contamination.

In addition to excessive oil consumption, leaks can also cause overheating and serious safety and environmental hazards. These can be difficult to clean up and pose a danger to employees, so be careful to draw attention to signs that prevent leaks.

10) Check the system temperature:

If the system temperature is too high, it may indicate a problem with the cooler or overflow valve. A low liquid level can also cause an increase in heat. Check the temperature using the built-in or infrared thermometer. Do not touch components that you suspect may be hot, as this may cause serious burns.

11) Visually inspect the inside of the reservoir:

Ventilation in the gas tank can cause overheating and wear of seals and system components. This occurs when air bubbles enter the oil stream from low liquid levels, low fluid temperatures, air leaks, and poor seals. The foam on the suction filter, the harsh rattle and swirls are indicators of inflation.

12) Listen to the water pump:

Listening to the pump will give you the idea of possible cavitation. Although similar to inflation, cavitation is the result of a bubble undergoing a rapid change in pressure. They explode and cause miniature shock waves. These can cause wear and repeated stresses on the metal surface, which can damage the components. Cavitation and ventilation have similar causes.

If the pump has cavitation, it will make a harsh whine.

13) Examine the fluid sample:

To check the quality of the fluid, take a small sample for inspection. Quick visual inspection for color anomalies and visible contamination. You may also want to check for unusual smells. The quality of the fluid can be checked more accurately by conducting a contamination test. It provides detailed findings on particle contamination, water contamination, viscosity, acidity and signs of overheating.

14) Scanning electronically controlled servo valve:

Check the temperature of these valves using an infrared thermometer. If it is higher than 150 °F, there may be a problem with the valve. Slow or incorrect operation of the valve position may be a sign of fluid contamination.

15) Check the electric motor:

Please place the infrared thermometer outside and use it on the electric motor to detect any high temperature areas. These areas may be on the housing or rotor bearings and require maintenance to avoid further damage to the equipment.
